During this session, the host cities for the Winter Olympics in 2030 and 2034 will be selected.
Since yesterday, the Palais des Congrès at Porte de Maillot in Paris has been hosting the 142nd session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Presided over by Thomas Bach, this major assembly gathers the 107 IOC members, including Prince Albert II, who has been a member since 1985 and president of the Legacy and Sustainability Commission since 2015.
The opening ceremony took place Monday evening at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, attended by the French president. The session itself began in earnest yesterday and concludes today.
Over these two days, several crucial topics have been addressed. These include the presentation of the IOC’s annual report and discussions on updating the Olympic Charter. Another significant topic: the selection of the host cities for the Winter Olympics, with the French Alps chosen for 2030 and Salt Lake City for 2034.
During the first day of the session, following the review of the 2024 Olympics organizing committee’s activity report, Prince Albert II expressed his gratitude and congratulations to the organizers:
"As President of the Sustainability and Legacy Commission, I would like to thank and congratulate you for the extraordinary work accomplished in preparing these Games from a sustainability and legacy perspective, as well as in terms of social responsibility and inclusion. The efforts presented are truly remarkable."
