95 Children Participate in the New Edition of Water Safety Day at Larvotto

Since 2014, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has organized days to teach children about the dangers of drowning.

The Water Safety Day returned on Tuesday, June 18, at Larvotto Beach. This day of introduction to lifesaving sports, aquatic safety, and first aid welcomed 95 children from the 5th grade at Charles III College, 6th grade at the François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré Institution, and CM2 students from La Condamine School. The event featured workshops led by Pierre Frolla, Ambassador of the Foundation and four-time world record holder in freediving, along with his team from the Monegasque Academy of the Sea and supported by first aid trainers from the Monegasque Red Cross.

The children participated in various activities such as learning to use a coastal line, a rope to pull a victim to shore, swimming with a tube buoy, and mastering the nipper board, a rescue surfboard. The primary goal was to raise awareness among students about water dangers. Champions and other sports figures, including Monegasque Olympic athletes, served as instructors for all workshops. "The presence of these champions and Olympians reinforces the message of drowning prevention and creates a positive sporting inspiration for the children," explained the Foundation.

In addition to this awareness campaign, a partnership was signed between UNICEF, represented by Ann Avril, General Director of UNICEF France, and the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. This three-year partnership will begin on July 1 in Cambodia and is part of the Foundation's "Learn to Swim" and "Water Safety" programs.
