In the new eco district Mareterra—Monaco’s latest architectural marvel—a new culinary star has risen. The renowned 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant, with its legacy of excellence spanning Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Rabat, has officially landed in the Principality. This marks not just another opening for the celebrated brand, but a bold new benchmark for Japanese fine dining on the Riviera.

Founded in 2005 by visionary brothers Fernando and Pedro de León, 99 Sushi has earned international acclaim for its seamless fusion of Japanese precision and Mediterranean flair, even clinching a Michelin star in Abu Dhabi. Now, in the heart of Monaco’s waterfront district, the brand’s most elegant outpost yet has opened its doors—and it’s nothing short of spectacular.
From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere exudes contemporary opulence: deep purple velvets, shimmering gold accents, and stylish furniture. A striking glass floor adds a theatrical dimension to the dining experience, while lighting and refined design details transform the space into a true jewel of interior artistry.
But as exquisite as the setting is, it’s the cuisine that truly captivates. The menu is a symphony of flavors—starting with pristine sashimi and nigiri made from responsibly sourced Atlantic bluefin tuna, exclusively provided by the Balfegó family. Each dish is a work of art, balancing tradition with innovation: from the wagyu-topped bites to foie gras-enhanced creations, and scallops bathed in mentaiko and ume sauce.
Signature dishes like spicy tiger prawn tempura, usuzukuri sea bass in red mojo offer a journey far beyond the familiar, each plated with finesse and a nod to French gastronomic techniques. Even the desserts—like the rich Moelleux au Chocolat or a refreshing fruit medley—round off the experience with understated elegance.

Complementing the menu is a carefully curated selection of wines, champagnes, and premium sake and signature cocktails. Open for dinner everyday, from 5 pm to 11 pm, 99 Sushi Monaco isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a destination. Located at 16 Quai du Petit Portier, Mareterra, this is where Monaco meets modern Japan in the most luxurious, flavorful way. Reservations recommended.
