Rainier III Zoological Garden (Jardin Animalier Rainier III) highlighted the institutional impact of its resident female blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), recognizing her as an exemplary figure within their regional conservation framework.
The female macaw, hatched in 2005, arrived at the principality's zoological park in 2008 following a formal seizure operation. In 2009, she was paired with a male macaw that had been placed at the park by a private individual. According to park records, the pairing was immediate, and the inseparable duo subsequently established themselves as the park's primary breeding couple for the species.
Operating from the park's large South American aviary, the pair has consistently reared between two and four offspring annually. This sustained reproductive success has yielded 33 young macaws, all of whom have been systematically transferred to other zoological parks. Institutional officials stated that these strategic transfers are explicitly designed to support broader collaborative efforts to preserve the avian species.

The facility most recently welcomed its two newest additions from the lineage, both hatched on May 10.
