After a decade of meticulous discoveries, research and restoration, the Prince's Palace of Monaco has emerged as a premier site of European Renaissance heritage, showcasing newly uncovered frescoes that illuminate the storied history of the Grimaldi family.
The frescoes, recently brought to light on the palace ceilings, form an exceptional ensemble - a vast allegory depicting the Grimaldi lineage during the Renaissance era. Initiated under the auspices of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, these efforts exemplify a model of sustainable heritage conservation, positioning the sovereign in the continuum of his ancestors, who were renowned patrons and protectors of the arts.
To commemorate this extraordinary scientific, historical and human endeavor, an international multidisciplinary colloquium will convene at the Oceanographic Museum from March 19 to 21, 2026. The event is dedicated to the study, interpretation and restoration of the palace frescoes.
