Marking a seminal milestone in Mediterranean environmental diplomacy, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène of Monaco officially inaugurated the exhibition “Préserver la Méditerranée. RAMOGE : un accord pionnier depuis 50 ans” (Preserving the Mediterranean. RAMOGE: A Pioneering Agreement for 50 Years) at the Ministry of State.
The event, held on Friday, June 26, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the RAMOGE Agreement, a historic trilateral pact born from the vision of Prince Rainier III. Today, the initiative continues to advance under the active impulsion of Prince Albert II, fostering a half-century of exemplary environmental cooperation among Monaco, France, and Italy.
The commemorative exhibition offers a comprehensive retrospective of the accord’s history, achievements, and future outlook. Curated through a collaborative effort, the presentation was produced by the Executive Secretariat of the RAMOGE Agreement and the National Archives of Monaco, with key contributions from the Archives of the Palace of Monaco and the Audiovisual Institute of Monaco.
Through an accumulation of archival documents, photographs, and previously unreleased testimonies, the exhibition illuminates the enduring sub-regional alliance dedicated to safeguarding the Mediterranean marine environment.

To symbolically anchor this golden jubilee in history, the Princely Couple also participated in the official cancellation (l'oblitération) of a special commemorative postage stamp issued specifically to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the pact.
The RAMOGE Agreement remains one of the oldest sub-regional maritime protection treaties in the world, and this half-century milestone reinforces the tri-national commitment to preserving shared ecological heritages for generations to come.
