On the sun-kissed shores of Monaco, where the azure Mediterranean meets a legacy of seafaring excellence, the Yacht Club de Monaco is preparing to host a landmark event. On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the club will welcome its members to an exclusive dinner-conference featuring the renowned sailor Roland Jourdain. Set to unfold at Restaurant 1909, this evening promises not just gourmet fare but a compelling exploration of maritime sustainability—a cause Jourdain has passionately championed.

Jourdain, a name etched in ocean racing lore, brings a remarkable history to the table. A two-time winner of the Route du Rhum and a three-time Vendée Globe participant, his career spans decades of daring voyages. Yet, it is his turn toward ecological innovation that defines his current legacy. In 2012, he founded Kaïros, a company devoted to developing bio-sourced materials, notably flax fiber, which has become central to his mission. This pivot reflects a commitment to harmonize the excitement of competitive sailing with environmental care—a vision the Yacht Club de Monaco aims to spotlight.

The dinner, priced at €90 with club wines included, will showcase Jourdain’s latest triumph: the Explore catamaran. Launched in 2022, this 60-foot vessel, constructed with 50% flax fiber, embodies his sustainable exploration ethos. Its design highlights cutting-edge technology while serving as a beacon for eco-conscious maritime engineering. For Jourdain, it’s a personal crusade to transform an industry often at odds with the seas it sails.

Under the patronage of the Centre Scientifique de Monaco and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Yacht Club has long been a beacon of maritime innovation. This event, part of its ongoing conference series, will blend expertise with inspiration and attendees will gather at 7:30 p.m.

As June 4 approaches, this dinner offers more than a meal; it presents a vision of a reimagined maritime world. Reservations, available through the club’s service at +377 95 10 63 00 or conference@ycm.org, are a chance to witness a sailor’s legacy evolve into a global movement. In Jourdain’s innovations, the sea finds a new voice—one of hope and responsibility.
