In a move underscoring the Principality’s continued commitment to sustainable innovation, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has been named Honorary President of the Club des Aéronautes de Monaco. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of the new Monaco-Moravia hot air balloon during the Monaco Yacht Show 2025.

The appointment formalizes Prince Albert’s long-standing support for the Club, which he has personally participated in by flying aboard the balloon - widely referred to as “the largest flag of Monaco in the world.” Founded in April 2000 by Alain Cruteanschii, the Club promotes environmentally responsible aeronautics, aligning with Monaco’s sustainability agenda.

"The Sovereign’s decision to support us by accepting the Honorary Presidency filled me with joy and pride," said Cruteanschii. "Since our creation, we have strived to ensure our sporting activity respects nature."

Coinciding with the announcement, the Club introduced its new principal partner: Moravia Yachting. The two-year partnership brings a redesigned national balloon - now bearing the Moravia Yachting logo alongside Monaco’s colors - intended to promote both environmental awareness and Monaco’s international visibility.

Niall Robinson, founding partner and CEO of Hill Robinson Group and Moravia Yachting, called the collaboration a natural fit. “This project will strengthen both Alain’s ballooning endeavors and Moravia’s global presence, resonating with clients who value this ‘minimum waste, maximum joy’ approach to life,” he stated.

The Monaco-Moravia balloon had its first official flight on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, lifting off from the Terrasses du Soleil, one of the sites operated by Société des Bains de Mer. A second presentation took place Thursday evening at Place du Palais Princier, directly connecting the initiative to Monaco’s institutional symbols.

"This initiative perfectly embodies our values - combining elegance with environmental responsibility," Robinson added.

Looking ahead, the Club aims to use the partnership to expand its international presence, including prospective flights in countries such as Saudi Arabia. The Monaco-Moravia balloon will serve as a mobile ambassador for the Principality, representing its values at global events.

Cruteanschii summed up the outlook: “Thanks to this new partnership, we will have the means to proudly fly the colors of the Principality around the world.”
