The Principality’s medical landscape is set to undergo a significant transition this summer as the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHPG) prepares to take possession of its new facility. On July 1, 2026, the construction teams behind the project will formally hand over the keys to the hospital’s management and medical staff, marking the start of a critical operational phase.
This transfer represents the culmination of a decade-long development effort. The massive infrastructure project, which commenced with initial ground-breaking in 2016, reached a major milestone in September 2024 with the completion of the structural work. At the height of the construction activity, the site employed as many as 700 workers.
Céline Caron-Dagioni, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, emphasized the complexity of the transition beyond the physical handover of the 40,000-square-meter facility.
“Delivering a hospital is much more than handing over a building: it is about verifying, testing, and securing every stage before welcoming patients,” Caron-Dagioni said.
Following the handover on July 1, the hospital will enter a rigorous testing and familiarization period known as a "dry run" or marche à blanc. This phase, scheduled to continue through the end of 2026, is essential to ensure that all systems meet strict healthcare safety standards for staff and future patients.
