A Symphony of Engines in the Principality: Cavallino Classic Makes Monaco Debut

The storied streets of the Principality served as the backdrop for a record-breaking assembly of racing history this weekend, as the inaugural Cavallino Classic Monaco transformed the marina into a high-octane gallery of Ferrari’s Formula 1 legacy.

Organized in collaboration with the Automobile Club de Monaco and the Yacht Club de Monaco, the event featured 22 historic single-seaters, representing decades of Scuderia Ferrari’s competitive evolution. The gathering achieved a milestone recognized as a Guinness World Record when 12 of these Ferrari Formula 1 cars took to the iconic Monte Carlo circuit simultaneously - the largest group of its kind ever seen on track together.

The event coincided with the 75th anniversary of Ferrari’s first Formula 1 victory, a tribute punctuated by the distinctive roar of vintage engines echoing through the city. The weekend’s competitive spirit extended beyond the parade; a 1964 Ferrari 1512, piloted by Joe Colasacco, secured a victory in the Race B category of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.

At the Saturday evening Concours d’Elegance, the prestigious Best of Show award was presented by Piero Ferrari, Vice President of the company. The honor went to the F2004 (chassis #234), the vehicle Michael Schumacher drove to dominance during the early stages of the 2004 season. Competing in Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Imola, and Spain, this specific car remains a symbol of the Schumacher era's peak performance.

The awards ceremony also recognized several other historically significant models. The Chairman’s Award was bestowed upon a 2002 F2002 (#222), while the People’s Choice Award went to a 1998 F300 (#189). In a category dedicated to the auditory experience of racing, the Ferrari Best Sound Award was given to a 1969 312 F1-69 (#0007). Additional "Best in Class" honors highlighted the technical progression of the brand, spanning from the 1980 126C to the 2018 SF71H.

The weekend also integrated a philanthropic component, featuring a charity auction held by the Cavallino Foundation in partnership with RM Sotheby’s to benefit Save the Children. As the 35th anniversary year of Cavallino Classic continues, the celebration of the Prancing Horse’s heritage is scheduled to move next to Modena later this month.
