AS Monaco has recently crossed the significant threshold of 25 million followers on social media. Bolstered by its recent launches on WhatsApp and Threads, where it has already gained over 500,000 followers in just a few months, AS Monaco now boasts the largest audience in Ligue 1 after Paris Saint-Germain and ranks among the top 20 in Europe. The club continues to expand its social media presence, sharing daily updates about the club and its players since its Facebook account debut in 2011. Growing from 20 million fans in February 2022 to over 25 million today marks a 25% increase.
This season has witnessed growth across the numerous platforms (12 in total) where AS Monaco is active, including WhatsApp (410,000 followers) and Threads (193,000), where the club made its debut in 2024. This strategic move aims to engage a young, connected audience with tailored content for each platform.
AS Monaco's primary communities are on Facebook (10.7 million followers), TikTok (5.7 million), Sina Weibo (2.9 million), X (2.5 million), and Instagram (2.2 million).
Internationally, while the club maintains a robust presence in China with over 3 million followers on Sina Weibo and Douyin, the most significant growth has been observed in Europe, Japan, and the United States.
These results validate a targeted digital strategy aimed at high-potential markets, supported by the presence of players like Folarin Balogun and Takumi Minamino. Their popularity enhances the club's profile, exemplified by the visit of Japanese media and content creators in March.
This international growth strategy has led AS Monaco to gradually increase the number of languages available for its content, now reaching seven on social media: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic, in addition to French. Italian and Russian content is also available on the official website.
Buoyed by this momentum, AS Monaco is now the second most-followed club in Ligue 1, with nearly 2.5 million more followers than Olympique de Marseille, which ranks third.
On a continental scale, according to a recent ranking of Europe's largest communities by NewsTank, considering audiences on Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok, AS Monaco is among the top 20 European clubs.
In terms of video content, AS Monaco garnered 160 million views in France and Monaco during the 2023/2024 season. These achievements also enhance the club's attractiveness to its partners.
