Monaco’s leisure scene has just levelled up. The long-awaited youth-oriented venue Box98 has officially opened its doors, transforming the former Car Collection Museum at Fontvieille Shopping Centre into a lively hub of adrenaline, nostalgia, and non-stop fun.
Following a grand inauguration attended by the Princely family, Box98 welcomed the public on April 1st with an exciting lineup of activities that range from electric karting and bowling to arcade games, karaoke, and racing simulators. The buzzing sound of go-karts speeding overhead on an elevated track now fills the once-quiet halls, complemented by vibrant neon lights and the unmistakable clinks of arcade machines.
Created with teenagers and families in mind, the centre offers something for all ages. The electric karting circuit pays homage to the Monaco Grand Prix, featuring sweeping turns and a mini straightaway for thrill-seekers. Young racers, teens, and adults alike can enjoy tailored karting options, including a “boost mode” for a turbo-charged experience. Pricing starts at €25, with a full “Grand Prix” experience available for €75.
But Box98 isn’t just about speed — upstairs, a sports lounge delivers a heartfelt nod to the past. Memorabilia from the iconic Stars’n’Bars venue, including original signage, autographed photos, and racing gear, offers a walk down memory lane for Monaco locals.
“It’s amazing — like NiBox but way better,” said one excited teenager after zooming off the track, while his mother noted the much-needed return of a youth centre in the Principality.
Open Tuesday through Sunday (late-night Fridays and Saturdays), Box98 is not only a tribute to Monaco’s motorsport culture but a bold new chapter for family fun in Fontvieille.
