In a beautiful step toward sustainability and thoughtful care, the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco is now offering new parents a charming, eco-responsible gift to celebrate the arrival of their newborns. Designed by the dedicated staff at the CHPG Maternity Unit, the brand-new maternity kit is a symbolic gesture of comfort, care, and conscious living.
Each year, nearly a thousand babies are born at the hospital. Now, those first moments come with something extra special: a lovingly embroidered swaddle blanket, a soft pouch, and a pencil meant for journaling those first unforgettable milestones in a maternity or breastfeeding diary. More than just a gift, it’s a keepsake rooted in meaningful beginnings.
This new initiative adds to the Maternity Unit’s evolving commitment to modern, holistic parenting. Since 2021, CHPG has been offering innovative parenthood preparation workshops, including sessions on environmental health—equipping families with the knowledge to make safer, greener choices during pregnancy and beyond.
Monaco’s favorite football team, AS Monaco, also plays its part. Since 2024, newborns with Monegasque or resident parents receive a welcome gift featuring a baby romper, a congratulatory note, and a plush Bouba mascot. In 2025, this partnership deepened with the launch of a paediatric reception area decorated in team colors—where bravery diplomas and Bouba murals bring smiles to little patients.
As CHPG embraces its 2025–2030 sustainable strategy, the maternity kit is just one more way the hospital leads by example. From phasing out nitrous oxide to reducing carbon emissions by 12 tonnes through smarter recycling, the institution proves that care for newborns can go hand in hand with care for the planet.
A warm welcome, wrapped in red, white—and green values.
