Monaco’s highly anticipated eco-district, Mareterra, is opening its doors for a series of exclusive guided tours, offering a unique chance to delve into the heart of this innovative urban development. Running from February 26th to March 19th, the tours are a perfect way to explore the district’s visionary design and eco-conscious ethos while experiencing its stunning public spaces.
Mareterra, a €2 billion project, is a breathtaking combination of nature and cutting-edge architecture. With more than 800 trees and 35,000 plants spread across 9,400 square meters of meticulously planned green spaces, the district embraces sustainability at every turn. The layout features five peaceful pools and a flowing water channel, all integrated into the landscape, creating a serene environment where ecology meets elegance.
During the tours, participants will encounter some of the district’s most intriguing landmarks. Among the highlights are the Blue Cave, a dramatic space that offers an awe-inspiring view into a Jarlan caisson, and the Meditation Space, a tranquil area adorned with quartz, glass, and metal, designed to inspire reflection and peace.
The eco-focused infrastructure of Mareterra is equally impressive, with pioneering solutions like a rainwater collection system to nourish the gardens and a stormwater reservoir to reduce runoff into the sea. These sustainable features, alongside the development’s exceptional design and craftsmanship, will be discussed in detail by knowledgeable guides, providing valuable insights into the project’s sustainable vision.
The tours will begin at 2pm from the iconic Place Princesse Gabriella, located in front of the striking Four Lances sculpture by Alexandre Calder. This is an unmissable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of one of Monaco’s most ambitious and environmentally conscious projects.
