Monaco's only university is Université de Monaco, the International University of Monaco, founded in 1986, a non-profit private institution of higher education. Officially recognized by the National Office of Education, Youth and Sports of Monaco, the International University of Monaco (IUM) annually accepts only 250-500 students.

IUM offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, master's, and MBA courses in business, communications. The courses train business leaders, high-level managers from all over the world in such important business areas as finance, luxury goods, marketing, sports business management, international management.

The IUM created an intercultural, interconnected, stimulating environment, encouraging entrepreneurship, teamwork, mutual understanding between students, faculty, staff.

Diplomas of the International University of Monaco open up opportunities in the international labor market for employment in Monaco: the university provides access to more than 5,000 European companies. Each year, IUM organizes a three-day International Business Days event with the participation of more than 70 companies, 400 students and graduates.

Other specialized higher education institutions of the principality include a nursing school, a music academy, a classical dance academy, and a plastic arts school.

L'Institut de Formation en Soins Infirmiers (IFSI - Nursing Training Institute) prepares students for a state diploma in nursing.
L'École Supérieure d'Arts Plastiques (ESAP - Art School of Monaco) is run by the City Hall of Monaco, which issues higher education diplomas in the field of art.
