The intersection of art and ecological advocacy took center stage in the Italian capital on May 19, as a Monégasque delegation inaugurated a photography exhibition at the Orto Botanico di Roma.
The exhibition, titled “Homme-Nature : équilibres fragiles” (Man and Nature: Fragile Balances), showcases award-winning photographs from the first five editions of the Environmental Photography Award, an initiative hosted by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (FPA2). The event was organized by the Italian branch of the foundation in partnership with the Fondazione Roma Sapienza and the Orto Botanico di Roma.
Held under the patronage of the Embassy of Monaco in Italy, the exhibition serves to highlight the foundation’s two-decade commitment to global environmental issues, specifically its work in biodiversity, climate, and ocean conservation. Anne Eastwood, Ambassador of Monaco to Italy and Vice-President of the foundation's Italian branch, underscored the foundation's role as a vital actor in raising awareness and implementing concrete solutions.
Following the inauguration, a conference titled “Conservation de la biodiversité : défis et opportunités pour l’avenir” (Biodiversity Conservation: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future) brought together institutional representatives and scientific experts. The discussion explored the current state of the planet and innovative projects for biodiversity preservation within Italy and the broader Mediterranean region.
Key figures participating in the discussions included Romain Ciarlet, Vice-President and CEO of the foundation; Marco Colasanti, President of the foundation’s Italian branch; and Fabio Attorre, Director of the Orto Botanico di Roma.
