French universities have partnered to introduce a specialized diploma in Monegasque law, marking a significant advancement in legal education. This new program, developed by the Monegasque Institute for Training in Judicial Professions (IMFPJ) in collaboration with Université Côte d’Azur and Université Aix-Marseille, aims to provide in-depth training in Monaco’s legal system.
The collaboration was formalized on August 29th at Monaco's Palais de Justice, where the institutions agreed to establish an interuniversity diploma in Monegasque law. This initiative allows students at Université Côte d’Azur in Nice and Université Aix-Marseille in Aix-en-Provence to specialize in Monaco's legal framework from this academic year.
The course, designed to complement existing degree programs, spans three years and offers both in-person and online learning options. It is structured to deepen students’ understanding of Monegasque law and facilitate its application across different legal systems. Graduates will be better equipped to integrate into Monaco’s legal market and enhance their professional practices within the principality. In addition to the current partnership, talks are ongoing with the University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas, which aims to join the program by September 2025. This expansion could broaden the diploma's impact, offering more students the opportunity to specialize in Monegasque law.
This initiative represents a significant step in cultivating legal expertise in Monaco, ensuring students are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of the principality’s legal environment.
