Monaco’s recently reopened Jardin Exotique is adding comedy to its cultural programme, with an open-air stand-up evening taking place among the garden’s celebrated collection of exotic plants.
Garden Comedy by Hassan de Monaco will be held on Friday 28 August at 9pm, bringing together five comedians for an unusual summer performance overlooking the Principality.
The line-up features Myriam Barouk, Alexandra Roth, Bruno Peki, Yacine Belhousse and Hassan de Monaco, with the historic garden providing the backdrop for the evening.
Hassan de Monaco, whose real name is Hassan Moukfi, has an unusual career away from the stage. The 44-year-old works as a state-certified nurse anesthetist at Monaco’s Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace while developing a parallel career in stand-up comedy.
Born in Morocco and raised in Monaco from the age of three months, Moukfi often turns his experiences in the Principality and the medical world into material for his performances. His comedy contrasts hospital reality with the polished world of television medical dramas, while also drawing on his multicultural upbringing in Monaco.
His stand-up career has taken him well beyond the Principality. He won the jury prize at the Festival les Fous Rires d’Avignon and has performed at Parisian venues including the Point Virgule, as well as touring in France, Switzerland and Belgium. He has also appeared as a radio columnist on France Bleu Azur.
The event is part of the developing cultural programme at the Jardin Exotique following its reopening.
Doors open at 8pm, with the performance beginning at 9pm. Tickets cost €18 and can be purchased in advance at the Jardin Exotique ticket office, which is open daily from 9am to 7pm. On the night, the box office will remain open from 8pm until the start of the show.
