Georges Lukomski, Photographer Who Captured the Private World of Monaco’s Royalty, Dies at 93

The Prince’s Palace of Monaco has announced the passing of Georges Lukomski, the first permanent photographer to the sovereign estate, whose lens captured decades of the Princely Family's public duties and private milestones. He was 93.

A funeral service at the Monaco Cathedral, attended by His Serene Highness the Sovereign Prince, concluded a lifetime of quiet dedication to the Crown.

From 1957 until the early 1980s, Mr. Lukomski chronicled the daily life of the palace with unwavering loyalty and distinct discretion. He was trained by Howell Conant, the renowned photographer and trusted confidant to Princess Grace. Through this mentorship, Mr. Lukomski developed a style that balanced professional precision with an intimate warmth, leaving behind a monumental archive of negatives now preserved by the Palace Archives. His body of work remains an essential historical testament to the mid-century evolution of the Principality.

In a statement marking his passing, the Prince’s Palace offered its most sincere condolences to Mr. Lukomski’s family and loved ones, honoring a legacy permanently etched into the visual history of Monaco.
