The historic Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo has added a fresh chapter to its nearly century-long legacy, following a major revitalization that introduced redesigned prestige suites and a new social hub to the Principality.
Since welcoming travelers in 1928, the Belle Époque landmark has continually adapted to the times while preserving its architectural heritage. Following a renovation program initiated in 2024 by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, earlier this year marked the official debut of the 2026 version of the "Appartements de l’Hermitage," alongside 40 new rooms and suites and a brand-new hotel bar.
A Four-Hand Collaboration for Prestige Suites
Twenty-two years after their creation, the hotel's Diamond Suites were completely reimagined by their original creators: the architectural firm Pierre-Yves Rochon and the Design and Engineering Department of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. Orchestrated by Luc Leroy, Director of Construction and Built Heritage for SBM, and Stéphanie Rainaut, Head of the Design Department, the project reunited Pierre-Yves Rochon and Karine Bouaziz, Artistic Director of the architectural firm.
Positioned on the hotel’s top floors and flooded with Mediterranean light, the new suites offer a contemporary interpretation of Belle Époque living. Interiors feature Versailles parquet flooring, Calacatta marble bathrooms with inlaid stone, Auberley & Laurent moldings, and a soft palette of water green, blue, and beige. Among the new collection are the Diamond Suite Princière and the Diamond Suite Présidentielle, located on the seventh floor.
The Diamond Suite Princière: Spanning 283 square meters, this residence features generous living spaces, a dining room for up to eight guests, and three 15-square-meter terraces overlooking the port of Monaco and the Prince's Palace. The master bathroom is finished in white onyx and includes a hydro-jet chromotherapy bathtub, a sauna, shower-hammam, Baccarat crystal fixtures, and Lalique wall sconces designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon. A second bedroom, dressing areas, a kitchenette, and dedicated butler access complete the space.
The Diamond Suite Présidentielle: Designed as a 151-square-meter private apartment, it opens onto two terraces overlooking the port and the Prince's Palace. The suite centers around a main living and reception area flanked by two bedrooms and two bathrooms featuring a sea-facing balneotherapy bathtub, a Calacatta Oro marble shower with a water wall, and sculpted mosaic flooring.
When combined, the two suites offer 434 square meters of space accommodating up to eight guests across four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two living rooms, an office, and a dining room.
Gustave: A New Venue for Connoisseurs
In the heart of the hotel's Winter Garden, beneath the landmark Eiffel dome, the property introduced Gustave, a new bar designed by interior architect Shirine Zirak. Conceived as an 18th-century bourgeois salon, Gustave spans five areas, including a new terrace featuring stone checkerboard flooring, wrought iron furnishings, and abundant greenery that echoes the Winter Garden's historical aesthetic. Open daily from midday to 1 a.m., the bar offers a menu of cocktails inspired by Art Nouveau and Parisian cafes, curated by Head Barman Julien Lecharpentier, alongside champagne and light fare.
Looking Ahead
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has announced that the next chapter in the Hôtel Hermitage's ongoing evolution will unfold in the spring of 2027. In the interim, the resort continues its culinary programming through the sixth anniversary edition of the Festival des Etoilés Monte-Carlo. As part of the festival, L'Abysse Monte-Carlo—the gastronomic restaurant located within the Hôtel Hermitage—will host a four-hands dinner on Saturday, September 19, 2026, featuring Chef Yannick Alléno and Chef Martino Ruggieri.
