Isidoro Miele: A Life Dedicated to Humanitarian Efforts, Business, and Environmental Advocacy

Isidoro Miele, a resident of Monaco since 1992, has built a remarkable career that intertwines entrepreneurship, humanitarian efforts, and environmental advocacy. His contributions span across various sectors, from maritime services to climate change initiatives, and his leadership in charitable organizations, most notably the Lions Club of Monaco, has left a lasting impact on the community.

Miele's career began with strong foundations in Italy, where he held significant roles in major companies. As Area Manager for Barilla Holding S.p.A. in Liguria from 1995 to 1997, he gained valuable experience in the food industry, which is one of the world's leading sectors. His expertise in sales management and marketing was further honed during his tenure as Sales Manager for S.A.M. Promocom, where he specialized in organizing and marketing trade shows.

In Monaco, Miele expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio. He became the CEO and majority shareholder of S.A.M. Onda Monte-Carlo, a company specializing in sanitary products for people with reduced mobility. Under his leadership, the company secured a patent for self-cleaning toilets, marking a significant innovation in the industry. His business acumen also extended to the wine trade, where he dealt with grands crus classes from Bordeaux, Bourgogne, and Champagne, and to international markets, including China and Africa, through Latapie import-export.

Miele's commitment to philanthropy is most evident in his involvement with the Lions Club of Monaco. He joined the club in 2014, sponsored by his friend and former club president, Victor Messeca. His passion for helping others was not new; for years, he had hosted children requiring medical care through the association Rencontres Africaines, a part of the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire.

In 2020, Miele became the president of the Lions Club of Monaco, where he introduced a fresh approach focused on humanitarian issues, particularly in response to the collateral damages of the COVID-19 crisis. Under his leadership, the club donated significant funds to various causes, including €10,000 to Les Voiles Blanches, an organization supporting children with cancer, and €23,000 for a new Piaggio Porter truck to aid in the recovery of the Roya Valley and the city of Tende after Storm Alex. His efforts also included support for local non-profits like Les Anges Gardiens de Monaco, providing sleeping bags for those in need.

Miele's dedication to environmental causes is reflected in his role as President of Blue & Sport Alliance Monaco, an association focused on climate change with a particular emphasis on the Arctic and Antarctica. The association collaborates with the Istituto Idrografico della Marina of Italy and the Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco to promote awareness and action on climate issues.

On October 11, 2024, the second edition of the Arctica & Antarctica Mission Report event will take place at the Monaco Yacht Club, an event that Miele will preside over. The program will include presentations on recent scientific and operational results from Italian polar research expeditions, further solidifying Miele's commitment to climate advocacy.

Miele's influence extends beyond business and philanthropy into cultural domains. He served as the Secretary General of the Cultural Association Dante Alighieri in Monaco and was a key partner in the MBR Art Monaco, contributing to the "Festival for the Earth" under the presidency of Maria Rebecca Ballestra. His passion for cultural events is matched by his love for sports, particularly sailing, where he is an active member of the crew of Tuiga, the historic ship of the Monaco Yacht Club.

As Miele looks towards the future, his plans include continued participation in international events, such as the upcoming Lions Club International Congress in Prato, Italy, in 2024. The Lions Club of Monaco, under his guidance, is a candidate to host this prestigious event in the Principality, further demonstrating his commitment to the Lions' motto: "Where there's a need, there's a Lion."

Isidoro Miele's life and career exemplify a deep commitment to improving the lives of others, advocating for environmental sustainability, and promoting cultural and humanitarian initiatives. His leadership and dedication continue to make a significant impact in Monaco and beyond.
