Winter has officially arrived in the Alpes-Maritimes, and the ski resorts of the Mercantour massif are ready to welcome snow lovers for the 2025–2026 season. Thanks to generous snowfall recorded in November, several resorts have opened earlier than expected, marking a promising start to the winter season just a short distance from the Principality.
Both Isola 2000 and Auron officially opened on Saturday 6 December 2025. The most eager skiers were even able to enjoy an early pre-opening at Isola 2000 on 29 and 30 November, a rare opportunity made possible by exceptional early snowfall. With a combined total of over 200 kilometres of pistes, the two flagship resorts of the Mercantour are set to offer a long and dynamic season stretching well into spring.
Isola 2000 plans to keep its lifts running until 19 April 2026, while Auron will close slightly earlier, on 12 April 2026. Both resorts are well known for their high-altitude terrain, varied runs, and modern infrastructure, making them popular choices for skiers from Monaco, the Côte d’Azur, and beyond—often reachable in under two hours.
The regional winter offering is completed by several nearby resorts. La Colmiane also opened on 6 December and will remain operational until 22 March 2026, appealing to families and beginners. Meanwhile, Valberg will officially kick off its season on 13 December, featuring attractive opening weekend prices of €15 for adults and €10 for young skiers.
For fans of Nordic skiing, Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage offers free access to its cross-country ski trails and winter hiking routes, rounding out a diverse and accessible winter sports destination close to Monaco.
