Italian Team from Yacht Club Italiano Wins Monaco Optimist Team Race

The Monaco Optimist Team Race concluded with a victory for the team from Yacht Club Italiano. The event ran from January 14 to 18, 2026, featuring 15 international teams of young sailors competing in Monaco. The competition followed an intense team racing format, progressing from round-robin matches to finals, with the sole objective of reaching the top of the leaderboard.
The final day of competition took place in the harbor, creating a unique setting where sport met the scenic backdrop of the Principality.
The Yacht Club Italiano squad, trained by Mattia Bellico and consisting of Vittorio Cavalleroneroni, Gabriele Burlando, Leonardo Orlandini, and Sebastiano Baldassarre, achieved the win with 11 victories in 11 races contested. They outperformed 15 rival teams from 12 nations in this prestigious international event.
