Monaco’s beloved La Condamine Market, a cornerstone of local life and tradition, is about to enter an exciting new chapter. Ahead of a major 13-month renovation beginning in January 2026, the Town Hall has unveiled plans for a temporary market installation that will keep the vibrant spirit of this iconic venue alive on Place d’Armes until early 2027.
At a recent press conference, Mayor Georges Marsan reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to preserving this historic meeting point. “It’s essential that this space, so dear to the people of Monaco, continues to thrive,” he said. “We must maintain the conviviality and daily habits that define our market.”
A Custom-Built Temporary Market
The new layout will feature ten custom-made wooden kiosks, fully equipped for food and beverage preparation. Among them: a pizza oven for the traditional socca and a refrigerated booth for sushi. Two spacious marquees will complement the design — one accommodating around 65 seated guests and various food stalls, the other dedicated to Solis Bio. Altogether, the temporary setup will provide nearly 300 seats, surpassing the market’s current capacity.
Support for Local Traders
To support merchants during this transition, the Town Hall has announced exceptional financial measures. Stallholders operating in the temporary market will be exempt from rental fees, while utilities and professional equipment will be supplied free of charge. Out of the 21 current businesses, 18 will relocate to the new site, while two are retiring.
A Sustainable Vision
The project adheres to Monaco’s BD2M environmental standards, with sound monitoring and an enclosed construction site to limit disturbances. Despite the works, the market’s familiar atmosphere will endure — complete with open access to lifts and parking.
In early 2027, La Condamine will reopen with renewed vitality — a perfect blend of tradition, modernity, and community spirit.
