Monaco's historic La Condamine Market is set to undergo a complete redesign starting in 2026, with a project aimed at enhancing both its architectural appeal and functionality to improve customer experience. This 12-month renovation promises to modernize the beloved marketplace while preserving its cultural significance.
In a meeting with traders, Monaco’s Mayor Georges Marsan, alongside Marjorie Crovetto and General Secretary Isabelle Costa, outlined the project’s key stages. They reassured traders that the redevelopment would involve ongoing consultation to ensure the process accommodates their needs and concerns. The renovation is considered a flagship project of the current term, reflecting its importance for Monaco’s residents and its role as a key destination for locals and visitors alike.
One of the primary motivations for the redesign is to update the market's infrastructure, particularly its outdated electrical system, which hasn’t been modernized since 2012. The planned upgrades will provide an opportunity to rethink the layout of the food hall, focusing on improving visitor flow, accessibility, and overall ambiance. This modernization will include enhancements to the aesthetic and practical aspects of the space, promising a more enjoyable and efficient experience for all.
During the construction phase, traders' booths will be temporarily relocated, ensuring business continuity. Additionally, both traders and regular customers will have a say in the process, with feedback being collected through surveys and forms available at the market.
With the planned redesign, La Condamine Market will maintain its historic charm while embracing a more contemporary and functional environment, ensuring its role as a vibrant hub for years to come.
