Love and Passion Take Center Stage in Opéra de Monte-Carlo’s New Season

The Opéra de Monte-Carlo has unveiled the opening slate for its 2026-2027 season, centering its upcoming programming on narrative explorations of consuming and fraught romance.

The early lineup introduces three works anchored by themes of tragic, irreconcilable, or fleeting devotion:

In George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess,” set against the backdrop of 1920s segregated Charleston, the title characters struggle to sustain their love amid surrounding violence and personal history. Performances are scheduled for November 15, 19 (by invitation of the Palais), and 21 at the Grimaldi Forum.

Georges Bizet’s Carmen traces the clash between Don José’s desire for possession and Carmen’s demand for personal autonomy. The performance will take place on November 20 at the Grimaldi Forum.

Jacques Offenbach’s La Vie parisienne offers a comedic contrast, following the lighthearted and short-lived Parisian affairs of Gardefeu, Bobinet, and Métella. The production will run at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo on December 23, 26, 27, 29, and 31.

Reservations for the season's slate are open through the company’s official digital ticketing channels.
