Renowned chef Marcel Ravin, who leads the kitchens at Blue Bay and Elsa in Monaco, has been celebrated as the best chef of 2025 at the prestigious Hotel & Lodge Awards in Paris. The ceremony, held on May 13 and organized by the French luxury hospitality magazine since 2018, highlights outstanding achievements within the global hotel and restaurant scene.
Marcel Ravin’s culinary journey began in Martinique, where his Caribbean heritage profoundly influences his innovative fusion cuisine. After relocating to France at 17 and honing his skills in several esteemed kitchens, Ravin established himself as a pillar of Monaco’s haute gastronomy. Since 2005, he has been at the forefront of the Blue Bay restaurant at Monte-Carlo Bay Hôtel & Resort, which proudly earned its second Michelin star in 2022. His other venue, Elsa, holds one Michelin star, further showcasing his culinary mastery.
At the awards ceremony, Ravin expressed his pride in receiving such recognition: “This honor reflects years of passion and hard work and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to create world-class cuisine. Through Monte-Carlo SBM, I am privileged to enhance Monaco’s standing as a top gastronomic destination.”
Beyond excellence in taste and presentation, Ravin’s approach embraces sustainability. He champions responsible sourcing by utilizing fresh ingredients from the Monte-Carlo Bay’s organic garden and adhering to the ‘Mr Goodfish’ charter, which protects marine ecosystems. The Blue Bay’s ‘Responsible Restaurant’ certification attests to his commitment to eco-conscious gastronomy.
This accolade not only celebrates Marcel Ravin’s talent but also reinforces the Monte-Carlo SBM Group’s reputation as a culinary powerhouse, boasting a remarkable total of 10 Michelin stars among its establishments.
