Monaco is set to unveil its transformative waterfront district, Mareterra, on December 4th, 2024. This landmark six-hectare development, representing a €2 billion investment, will be officially inaugurated by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. Following the ceremony, the public will gain access to this innovative eco-district the very next day.
Mareterra, a bold urban extension along Monaco’s coastline, has been in the making since 2013. Completed six months ahead of schedule, this engineering marvel has reshaped the Principality, blending luxury living with environmental consciousness. Iconic features like the 16-berth marina and the striking Renzo building—designed by the celebrated architect Renzo Piano—have already captured the attention of residents and visitors.
Behind the scenes, over 3,500 workers have meticulously brought this ambitious vision to life, transforming what was once open sea into a harmonious blend of modern architecture and sustainable design.
Public Spaces and Exclusive Living
Starting December 5th, visitors can explore Mareterra’s 500-metre coastal promenade or unwind in its verdant public spaces, adorned with 1,000 mature trees. The district also offers an array of amenities, including 12 boutique shops and restaurants, such as 99 Sushi Bar and Marco, an English-style eatery. Additionally, the Grimaldi Forum now benefits from an extension within the district, complemented by 160 new parking spaces.
On the private side, Mareterra sets a new benchmark for exclusivity with 110 apartments, 10 luxurious villas, and four townhouses. These residences, ranging from 400 to over 2,000 square metres, have been quietly acquired by elite European buyers. While official pricing remains undisclosed, the properties are anticipated to command some of the highest values in the world.
Mareterra is more than a development—it’s a symbol of Monaco’s forward-thinking vision, seamlessly integrating luxury and sustainability into the heart of the Mediterranean.
