Miguel Gaspar's ascent to becoming a Monaco 40 under 40 laureate is a compelling narrative of passion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the craft of racing. From the moment he gripped the steering wheel of a Go Kart at age 13, Gaspar embarked on a journey marked by rapid ascension in the competitive world of motorsports, a journey defined by both its meteoric highs and challenging lows. His story is a testament to not just his talent and skill, but also his ability to adapt and thrive amidst the ever-evolving dynamics of racing.
Gaspar's racing odyssey began at the age of 13 on the Almeirim kart track with a Honda 390cc Go Kart. This initial spark ignited a passion that propelled him into the realm of professional karting. By 2012, he was already making waves, securing a 2nd place finish in his first National Kart race against seasoned drivers.
Over the next few years, Gaspar’s name became synonymous with victory in the Portuguese Karting Championships, including the prestigious Red Bull Kart Fight Event. His trophy cabinet grew rapidly, adorned with victories and podium finishes that underscored his burgeoning reputation.
2015 marked a significant shift in Gaspar's career. Joining ART Pro Racing as a Test Driver, he transitioned to a more powerful class of Go Karts - the X30. His next two years were spent mastering Portuguese kart tracks, honing his skills, and refining the karts’ performance.
However, every hero’s journey has its trials. Between 2017 and 2018, Gaspar faced financial hurdles, temporarily slowing his ascent. Undeterred, he continued honing his skills through Kart Tests in Portugal and Spain and extensive simulator training.
2019 was a breakthrough year for Gaspar. He transitioned to single seaters, joining the Euroformula Team to pilot a Formula Renault 2.0 car. Demonstrating his natural talent, Gaspar topped the speed charts in France amidst a group of ten drivers.
His consistent performances in 2020, flirting with track records under challenging conditions, did not go unnoticed. By December, ADESS had enlisted his talents to test an LMP3 car in Portimão, where he achieved his goals on debut.
2021 saw Gaspar further cement his reputation. He returned to the LMP3 with ADESS, competed in Club Euroformula, and delivered stellar performances, including second and third-place finishes at Estoril in a Formula Renault 2.0.
In 2022, joining Lamo Racing for the Formula Renault Cup and returning to Club Euroformula, Gaspar continued his streak of impressive results, including podium finishes at Estoril.
2023 heralded yet another highlight. Joining R-ace for an event at the circuit Fontenay-le-Comte, Gaspar, in his first outing at this track, remarkably secured a first and third place.
