Monaco will once again place itself at the forefront of environmental innovation and international cooperation when it hosts the third edition of the Ocean Space Forum on 2 July 2026 at the Auditorium Rainier III. Held under the patronage of Prince Albert II, the event will gather leading representatives from the space sector, scientific community, international organizations, and private industry to explore how satellite technology can contribute to the protection and sustainable management of the world’s oceans.
Organized by the Monaco Government in partnership with the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) and Prométhée Earth Intelligence, the forum highlights the growing role of space-based solutions in addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing marine ecosystems today. The initiative is coordinated by Monaco’s Bureau of Space Affairs, established in 2021 to strengthen the Principality’s engagement in the international space sector.
This year’s program will focus on three key themes: the impact of climate change on the oceans, maritime governance and law enforcement, and emerging technological opportunities connecting the space and ocean industries. Through a series of expert-led conferences and roundtable discussions, participants will examine how satellite data can improve environmental monitoring, support scientific research, and strengthen ocean conservation efforts.
The 2026 edition is held within the framework of the Space4Ocean alliance, an international initiative launched during the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice in 2025. As a founding member, Monaco continues to champion collaboration between governments, scientific institutions, and industry leaders to harness advanced technologies for the benefit of marine ecosystems worldwide.
The forum will welcome representatives from major international organizations, including several United Nations agencies, alongside the European Space Agency, national space agencies, universities, and innovative technology companies. Open to the public and free of charge upon registration, the Ocean Space Forum reflects Monaco’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, scientific progress, and global environmental leadership.
