Monaco Celebrates Linguistic Heritage with Annual Language Awards

The Principality reaffirmed its commitment to its cultural roots yesterday evening as the Cour d'Honneur of the Mairie de Monaco hosted the traditional prize-giving ceremony for the Concours de Langue Monégasque. The event took place in the presence of Prince Albert II and numerous dignitaries from across the Principality.

The competition, organized through a partnership between the Institution Communale, the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports (DENJS), and the National Committee for Monegasque Traditions, serves as a cornerstone for local cultural preservation. This year’s edition saw significant engagement, with 76 students honored out of 1,902 total registrants, ranging from primary school (CM2) through the final year of secondary education (Terminale).

Officials emphasized that the Concours de Langue Monégasque represents the ongoing determination of the Mairie to preserve, promote, and pass down a language that embodies the fundamental identity and culture of the Principality.
