On June 5, Monaco will shine a spotlight on sustainability as it transforms rue Princesse Caroline into a vibrant eco-hub to celebrate World Environment Day. From morning until early evening, this iconic pedestrian street will host a full day of interactive events and engaging exhibits centered on reducing plastic use and promoting greener living.
Organized by the Principality’s Department of the Environment, the event invites residents, tourists, and eco-conscious enthusiasts to take part in workshops, educational talks, and sustainable innovation showcases. Starting at 9 a.m., attendees will discover practical strategies to limit plastic consumption in daily life. Hands-on activities like “zero plastic” workshops will help participants adopt small but impactful habits.
Non-profit organizations such as Ecoscience Provence will address the rise of misleading "greenwashed" solutions, while Green Box Monaco will unveil its reusable crate system—an innovative step in closing the loop on waste through circular economy models. Meanwhile, Ecoslowasting will demonstrate how its platform gives new purpose to unsold goods, preventing unnecessary waste before it happens.
The afternoon sessions will highlight collaborative local efforts. Experts from the Jardin Animalier, the Energy Transition Mission, and the Mairie will present initiatives like “Ma Consigne,” a system encouraging the return and reuse of glass containers, and “La Petite Boîte,” a food waste prevention program making waves in the community.
This free event reflects Monaco’s deep commitment to sustainability, aligning with long-standing government measures such as the ban on plastic bags introduced in 2016 and ongoing restrictions on single-use items. With Green Day, Monaco reinforces its ambition to lead the way in environmental responsibility—proving that luxury and ecological mindfulness can go hand in hand.
