In a formal gathering at the Palace of Monaco, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene welcomed members of the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to the Palace’s Court of Honor on Thursday.
The high-level meeting took place just days after the official transfer of the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to the Principality of Monaco. Monaco’s term, which began on May 15, 2026, is scheduled to run through November 10, 2026.
The Monegasque Presidency takes the helm under a defined central ambition, namely the protection of all, by an effective Organisation, to meet contemporary challenges.
Over the course of its six-month tenure, Monaco has outlined several major priorities to guide its leadership. According to official communications, these focal points will include the protection of vulnerable individuals, the advancement of the rights of women and children, the fight against disinformation, and the promotion of ethics in sports.
The gathering of the PACE Standing Committee in the Principality underscores the collaborative efforts between the legislative assembly and the executive chairmanship as Monaco begins its mandated term at the head of the European institution.
