The Monaco E-Prix is set to remain one of the highlights of the international motorsport calendar after Formula E and the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) confirmed a new agreement extending the race’s presence in the Principality until 2031. Alongside the long-term commitment, organisers also announced revised dates for the 2027 edition, which will now take place on 1–2 May, two weeks earlier than initially planned.
The date change, approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, has been made to better align with Monaco’s sporting calendar while avoiding a scheduling conflict with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The adjustment ensures that fans, teams and manufacturers can fully participate in both major racing events.
Since making its debut in 2015, the Monaco E-Prix has evolved into one of Formula E’s signature races. Originally held every two years on a shortened version of the famous street circuit, the event has been staged annually since 2021 and now uses the full Circuit de Monaco, placing electric racing on the same iconic layout that hosts the legendary Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The extended partnership reflects Monaco’s continued commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility. Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious venues in global motorsport, the Principality has become a fitting stage for Formula E’s vision of the future, combining cutting-edge technology with one of racing’s most historic circuits.
The renewed agreement also coincides with the arrival of Formula E’s next-generation GEN4 car for the 2026–27 season. Featuring approximately 600 kW of power, all-wheel drive and significantly enhanced performance, it will be the fastest and most advanced electric race car ever introduced in the championship. Fans were given a first glimpse of its capabilities during this year’s Monaco E-Prix, when former Formula 1 star David Coulthard completed a demonstration run around the circuit.
Adding to the excitement, the 2027 event will introduce a new weekend format, combining the traditional Monaco E-Prix with the debut of E-Prix Unleashed—a shorter, high-intensity race designed to showcase Formula E’s latest technology in an even more dynamic format. Ticket information is expected to be released in the coming months.
