Monaco Expands Early Childhood Music Initiative for the 2026–2027 Academic Year

Marking the commencement of the educational calendar, municipal and educational leaders in the Principality announced an expansion of arts programming during a press conference on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Karyn Ardisson Salopek, Deputy Mayor, alongside Jade Sapolin, Director of the Rainier III Academy, unveiled the broad rollout of the "Music for All" (Musique pour tous) initiative.

Broadening Early Childhood Education

Building on a successful pilot phase carried out last year across two trial classes, the curriculum will now be extended to every Grande Section kindergarten class in the Principality. Under the framework of the program, a specialized school music educator (Musicien Intervenant en Milieu Scolaire) will conduct a weekly 45-minute session dedicated to musical awakening, sound exploration, and collective practice.

The initiative is structured as a collaborative partnership between the Mairie de Monaco, the Rainier III Academy, and the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports (DENJS). In tandem with the kindergarten expansion, authorities have optimized scheduling for the "Music-Enhanced Class Hours" (Classes à Horaires Aménagés Musique) program at the secondary school level (collège), aiming to provide students with improved conditions to balance standard academics with intensive musical training.
