On Saturday, October 11, at 6 p.m., the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo will host the third edition of “The Ocean Meets Art”, an event organized by Blue & Sport Alliance Monaco that brings together visual art, scientific expertise, and environmental advocacy in support of ocean conservation.
Held in the Régence and Belle Époque salons, the event will convene artists, researchers, public figures, and institutions around a common goal: increasing awareness and encouraging concrete action for the protection of marine ecosystems.
The evening will open with “The Ocean Through Art,” an artistic and sensory program introduced by Rear Admiral Giosuè Allegrini, art critic. Five international artists will present works addressing the power and vulnerability of the ocean: Concetta De Pasquale (abstract composition), Marilena Sassi (performance), Alessandra Angelini (visual storytelling), Dominik Drygas (multidisciplinary collage), and Vladana Vujosevic (climate-focused installation). Each work is positioned as a message of environmental consciousness.
A scientific panel titled “Understanding the Ocean: Fragility and Hope” will follow. Moderated by Vice Admiral Luigi Sinapi, Director of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), the discussion will address ocean health, climate change, and international cooperation. Panelists include Prof. Giorgio Budillon, specialist in polar and ocean systems; Prof. Franco Coren, Director of the OGS National Institute of Oceanography and Geophysics (Italy); Dr. Maÿlis Salivas, expert in climate action and socio-economic impact; Prof. Roberta Ivaldi of the Italian Hydrographic Institute; and Marcello Pica, focused on interdisciplinary partnerships for marine sustainability.
This third edition is part of a long-term initiative for ocean and polar protection.
