The Monaco International Book Fair (Salon International du Livre de Monaco) will celebrate its 15th anniversaryon 5–6 September 2026, returning to the Grimaldi Forum for a weekend dedicated to literature, culture and intellectual exchange. Organised by Les Rencontres Littéraires Fabian Boisson, the annual event has established itself as one of the Mediterranean's leading literary gatherings, bringing together acclaimed authors, academics, researchers and readers from around the world.
Faithful to its founding vision, the fair explores the dialogue between literature, history and contemporary thought. This year's programme features more than 20 conferences, panel discussions and literary cafés, offering visitors the opportunity to engage directly with writers, exchange ideas and discover new perspectives across a wide range of subjects—from fiction and memoirs to politics, science and philosophy.
Held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the event reflects Monaco's longstanding commitment to promoting culture and the arts. Quoting Jean Cocteau, Prince Albert II has described art as "a procession of solitudes that yield an incalculable force when united," a philosophy that continues to inspire the spirit of the festival.
One of the major novelties of the 2026 edition is the launch of the Sports Book Prize (Le Prix du Livre Sportif), recognising works that explore the relationship between sport, human achievement and literature. The jury will be chaired by acclaimed mountaineer and author Orianne Aymard, whose current expedition on Mount Manaslu in the Himalayas will be followed live during the fair through a series of broadcasts connecting her ascent with the event's cultural programme.
The fair will also pay tribute to the late Sylvana Lorenz, the celebrated author, art dealer and longtime friend of the event. Visitors will have the opportunity to honour her literary legacy, including her acclaimed books on Pierre Cardin and her memoir chronicling life in the international art world.
Among this year's distinguished guests are renowned physicist Étienne Klein, novelist Emmanuelle de Boysson, political scientist Gilles Kepel, and former French Foreign Minister Hubert Védrine, whose keynote discussion will explore today's geopolitical landscape through the lens of the Mediterranean. Together, they will reinforce the Monaco International Book Fair's reputation as a place where literature becomes a gateway to understanding the world.
