Monaco Launches ‘Japan in Monaco’ Event to Open Yearlong Celebrations of Diplomatic Ties With Japan

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, accompanied by Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko of Mikasa, officially inaugurated the event “Le Japon à Monaco” on the forecourt of the Grimaldi Forum.

The morning program featured the enchanting power of Taiko drums and a poetic choreography by Mimoza Koiké, a Japanese dancer with the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

The gathering marks the start of commemorations for the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Monaco and Japan. Throughout 2026, a series of events will honor the milestone, illustrating “the proximity and the ties of friendship” that unite the two countries, as emphasized by Prince Albert II in his address.
