As the summer season approaches, Monaco is stepping up its transport game with the rollout of a new fleet of 28 fully electric taxis designed to meet growing demand from tourists and major events. Introduced as part of the Principality’s broader commitment to sustainability, these seasonal vehicles will help ease congestion while promoting eco-conscious travel.
The sleek white electric taxis, now circulating the streets of Monaco, are set to complement the existing Taxi de Monaco network. With a clear focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the initiative offers fixed rates — €18 for local rides within Monaco and €25 to nearby towns, excluding traffic delays or waiting time fees.
In times of particularly high demand, these vehicles will also be authorized to operate as far as Menton and Nice Ville, ensuring flexible and efficient coverage during peak tourist flows.
Phased Rollout to Ensure Consistent Service
The electric taxi program will be implemented in three phases:
- 8 taxis from April 1 to September 30
- An additional 10 from April 15 to October 15
- A final wave of 10 more from May 1 to November 1
This phased approach guarantees that the full fleet will be on the road throughout Monaco’s busiest months, from May through September.
Round-the-Clock Coverage
To maintain service quality at all times, 11 of these eco-friendly taxis will run overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., while at least 7 vehicles will be available 24/7 via the dedicated taxi hotline: +377 93 15 01 01.
This forward-thinking move underlines Monaco’s vision for a greener future, delivering practical, high-standard transport solutions in line with the Principality’s prestigious image.
