The Principality of Monaco participated in the inaugural Ukraine Peace Summit held in Bürgenstock, near Lucerne, Switzerland, on June 15 and 16. The summit was organized by Switzerland at Ukraine's request.
Monaco was represented by Madame Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Government Counselor-Minister for External Relations and Cooperation, accompanied by H.E. Madame Carole Lanteri, Ambassador to the Swiss Federal Council. The Principality joined representatives from 100 countries and international organizations, including about fifty Heads of State and Government from across the globe.
The summit aimed to energize the peace process, build trust, and create a framework for future steps that may eventually involve Russia. Discussions centered around three major global challenges:
- Nuclear safety
- Food security
- The human dimension of the conflict (including forced displacement of populations, especially children, and the issue of prisoners of war)
At the conclusion of the summit, participating states adopted a declaration reaffirming the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as a shared vision that emerged from discussions on the three main topics. Participants also committed to continuing their efforts.
On the sidelines of the summit, Madame Berro-Amadeï met with Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dmytro Kuleba, who expressed gratitude for Monaco's support both bilaterally and in multilateral frameworks.
