Ten months ahead of the grand departure, the Principality of Monaco unveiled the first two routes of La Vuelta 2026 on Monday, marking a significant moment for this storied city-state. The official presentation was graced by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, who delivered a welcoming speech, underscoring the event’s importance to Monaco’s sporting legacy.
The cycling spectacle, set for August 20-23, 2026, will see Monaco pulsate with the rhythm of the race. The schedule includes a team presentation on Thursday, August 20, followed by a 9.6-kilometer individual time trial on Saturday, August 22, winding through the principality’s iconic landmarks. The event will culminate with a stage departure from Place du Palais on Sunday, August 23.
This occasion solidifies Monaco’s unique position in the world of professional cycling. Having previously hosted the start of the Giro d’Italia in 1966 and the Tour de France in 2009, Monaco will become the only city-state to have welcomed the grand départ of all three Grand Tours. The announcement reflects the principality’s enduring commitment to global sporting events, blending its historic charm with competitive fervor.

As preparations begin, Monaco stands ready to showcase its scenic routes and rich heritage to an international audience, further cementing its reputation as a premier destination for athletics.
