The Principality of Monaco has once again proven its strength on the international sporting stage, delivering an extraordinary performance at the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), held in Andorra. With a total of 44 medals, including 16 golds, the Monegasque delegation achieved its most successful campaign outside national borders—setting a new benchmark for future competitions.
This remarkable medal count places Monaco fourth overall and marks the nation’s third-best performance since its GSSE debut in 1985. Only the home-hosted 2007 edition saw more golds (19), making this year’s success in Andorra especially meaningful as the Principality looks ahead to welcoming the Games in 2027.
In the swimming events, Monaco’s athletes truly made waves. Lisa Pou dominated the pool, adding another gold to her growing collection by winning the 400m individual medley. Male swimmers also reached the podium, with Ladislas Salczer and Issei Kim earning bronze in their respective sprint events.
Tennis saw a gripping finale as Valentin Vacherot claimed gold in the men’s singles after a hard-fought match. Despite a tough loss in the doubles final, he and Ivan Ljubicic walked away with silver.
On the team sports front, Monaco's rugby 7s squad swept the competition, finishing with a commanding 38-0 win over Andorra in the final. Beach volleyball duos also dazzled, winning both the men’s and women’s titles without dropping a single set.
Monaco claimed medals across all competing sports, including cycling, athletics, and volleyball. The closing ceremony set the stage for 2027, as Monaco officially received the flag to host the next GSSE edition. With such momentum, the road to Monaco 2027 promises to be both exciting and historic.
