The Principality of Monaco has officially opened school enrollment for the 2026-2027 academic year, ushering in a new era of simplified procedures for families. Monaco residents can now apply for placements in both public and private schools under contract with the government.

In a move designed to alleviate administrative burdens, the Prince's Government has significantly streamlined the enrollment process. Gone are the days of cumbersome paperwork and extensive documentation. This year, the emphasis is on efficiency and accessibility, primarily through the MonGuichet.mc online portal.

The MonGuichet.mc portal offers a user-friendly platform where parents can complete the entire enrollment process with just a few clicks. Accessible 24/7, the portal allows families to apply at their convenience. Recognizing that not everyone is comfortable with online applications, schools will continue to accept traditional paper applications.

Important Dates for Parents

Parents of children entering nursery and primary school have until March 13, 2026, to register their children. This applies to Monegasque nationals and residents aged three and above.

Enrollment periods for secondary schools vary:

  • Charles III College: May 1 to June 19
  • Albert I and Rainier III Secondary Schools: January 12 to June 19
  • François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré Institution: By appointment.

For students pursuing post-A-level studies (baccalaureate), all applications are now centralized within a single process running from January 19 to April 1. Aspiring athletes seeking flexible class schedules can apply between March 16 and May 15.

Exemptions:

Families residing outside Monaco or those wishing to enroll their child in a school outside their designated district must request an exemption from the Department of Education, Youth and Sport (DENJS) before May 1, 2026.

This modernization initiative is a key component of the Extended Monaco program, a collaborative effort between the Department of Education and the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition. The program aims to leverage digital technologies to enhance government services and improve the overall experience for citizens. By simplifying the school enrollment process, Monaco is demonstrating its commitment to providing accessible and efficient educational opportunities for all residents.
