As the summer season approaches, Monaco renews its commitment to ensuring a safer nightlife with an enhanced collaboration between key local organizations. Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), the non-profit Be Safe Monaco, and the Monegasque Red Cross have joined forces once again for 2025, reinforcing their shared mission to reduce alcohol-related risks on the streets of the Principality.
This alliance, first established in 2017 and expanded last year, focuses heavily on promoting responsible behavior and offering secure transportation options for night-time revelers. From July 1 to August 31, SBM will deploy two dedicated shuttle drivers every night from midnight to 5 a.m., providing reliable rides home for those who may be impaired or unfit to drive. The service has already proven effective, having assisted 355 passengers last summer alone.
Be Safe Monaco supports the initiative by managing insurance for drivers and conducting vital awareness campaigns among SBM’s seasonal staff, emphasizing the dangers associated with drink-driving. Every shuttle ride also includes the presence of security personnel to guarantee safety throughout the journey.
In a proactive step to combat drink spiking, the Monegasque Red Cross has donated 3,000 silicone drink covers—manufactured by French company DrinkWatch—to SBM’s nightlife venues. These protective covers, distributed at popular spots such as Jimmy’z Monte-Carlo, Buddha-Bar, and Coya Monte-Carlo, help prevent unwanted substances from contaminating beverages and reduce accidental spills.
The collaboration reflects a unified dedication to preserving Monaco’s nightlife as a vibrant yet secure experience for residents and visitors alike. Leaders from all involved organizations, including Camille Gottlieb of Be Safe Monaco and Stéphane Valeri of SBM, have voiced strong support for this ongoing partnership at a recent ceremony at Jimmy’z Monte-Carlo.
