As cyber threats escalate across digital infrastructures worldwide, Monaco Telecom has announced a mandatory reconfiguration of its email services, requiring all users to update their mail settings before September 15, 2025.

The company has confirmed that, beginning that day, all non-compliant outgoing mail servers will be permanently deactivated. Any email account that has not been correctly reconfigured to meet international security standards will no longer be able to send messages. The move is part of a broader campaign to reinforce the security of Monaco Telecom’s sending and receiving servers - an initiative driven by the rising frequency of phishing attacks and broader cybersecurity risks that have become a global concern.

Affected users include individuals and businesses who access their Monaco or Libello email addresses via third-party mail applications such as Outlook, Apple Mail, or mobile devices. The updated configuration must be applied across all devices used to access these accounts, ensuring that each email client routes traffic through Monaco Telecom’s newly secured infrastructure.

To assist users in complying with the new requirements, Monaco Telecom has launched a dedicated platform. There, users will find detailed video tutorials tailored to a wide range of devices and operating systems, outlining the configuration steps clearly and concisely. A built-in verification tool - simply titled “Check” - allows users to confirm that their configuration is correct. By sending a test message, users receive confirmation that their email client has been properly aligned with the secure servers.

The company has also provided multiple avenues for assistance, including personalized support from digital advisors, traditional customer service, and an interactive virtual assistant available online.

While the technical nature of the update may pose a challenge to some users, the policy is unequivocal: failure to update by the September 15 deadline will result in the loss of the ability to send emails via Monaco Telecom’s system. Incoming mail will not be affected, but sending functionality will be blocked until proper configuration is restored.

Monaco Telecom’s decision reflects a broader industry shift toward enforcing higher standards of email security - particularly in regions such as Europe where data protection regulations are stringent and cyber resilience is a matter of national concern.

This change, while mandatory, is ultimately preventative. By enforcing compliance with international email security standards, Monaco Telecom aims to protect both individual users and the Principality’s broader digital ecosystem from increasingly sophisticated threats.

Users are advised to act well before the deadline to avoid disruption and to contribute to a more secure and resilient communications infrastructure.
