Monaco United Extends Its Winning Streak, Combining Ruthless Precision With Growing Authority

Monaco United is not merely winning; it is asserting itself. The club from the Principality has now secured three consecutive victories without conceding a single goal, a run that underscores both the attacking power and the defensive discipline of a squad increasingly defined by cohesion and clarity of purpose.

The sequence began with a decisive victory against Carros, a match that, by the club’s own assessment, altered the trajectory of its season. That result carried Monaco United into a demanding stretch of fixtures, starting with an away tie in the Mediterranean Cup against FC Lambescain. The match was approached as a collective endeavor, with players and staff spending the day together, reinforcing unity off the pitch that soon translated into control on it. The outcome was a convincing win and qualification for the quarter-finals.

“The match against Carros was a turning point, both mentally and sportingly,” said Marco Simone, President and Head Coach of Monaco United Women’s Football Club. “Winning that decisive first game kickstarted our season and freed us to deliver great performances.”

League play resumed the following weekend with expectations firmly established. Monaco United met them emphatically. Against AS Moulins, the team delivered a 25-0 victory, extending its lead at the top of the table and reaching a symbolic benchmark: 100 goals scored in the league this season. The scoreline reflected not only superiority, but continuity in performance.

That continuity was tested on Sunday, February 8, in a high-stakes league encounter against Villeneuve-Loubet, one of the strongest sides in the standings and the second-best defensive unit in the league behind Monaco United itself. The first meeting between the two had been closely contested, and Monaco United approached the return fixture with measured intensity.

At Stade Didier-Deschamps, the home side imposed itself early. Sustained possession and aggressive pressing set the tone, and the breakthrough came quickly. Marina Makanza opened the scoring before adding a second, giving Monaco United a 2-0 lead and immediate control of the match. Two additional goals before halftime extended the advantage to 4-0, effectively neutralizing Villeneuve-Loubet’s defensive organization.

The second half offered no reprieve. A fifth goal shortly after the restart confirmed Monaco United’s dominance, and a sixth, late in the match, sealed a comprehensive 6–0 victory.

“In a match expected to be difficult, we faced a very compact and even more aggressive defensive block than in the first leg,” Simone said. “Despite a few mistakes, the girls stayed true to our playing philosophy, which is now fully part of the team’s DNA.”

Meryl Cirri, a central figure in the match, emphasized the patience required to dismantle a well-prepared opponent. “We faced a team that had prepared well, particularly defensively. It took some time to adapt and find openings, but gradually spaces appeared,” she said. Beyond the scoreline, Cirri highlighted the team’s defensive consistency. “On the pitch, we’re not conceding goals at the moment, which is very positive for our defensive line. There’s only positivity, and it’s a joy to be part of this team.”

The result marked Monaco United’s third consecutive clean sheet and further consolidated its position at the top of the league standings, adding three more points to an already commanding lead.

Behind the sporting success stands a broader project. The Marzocco Group, the club’s main sponsor, continues to support a professional structure designed to match long-term ambitions. “Supporting Monaco United means supporting an ambitious project for women’s football in Monaco,” said Claudio Marzocco, President of the Marzocco Group. “The next steps naturally align with a clear ambition: to elevate Monaco United to the highest level of national women’s football.”

The coming weeks will test that ambition. Monaco United is scheduled to play a friendly in Corsica against AS Pietrosella, followed by the quarter-finals of the Paul Marenco Cup on February 22 against AS Fontonne Antibes at Stade Didier-Deschamps. On March 1, the Mediterranean Cup presents a significant challenge: an away quarter-final against FC Rousset, a team competing two divisions above.

In the league, however, Monaco United remains firmly in control. The objectives are explicit. “Our ambitions remain unchanged: to win the league, aim for promotion through the playoffs, and go as far as possible in cup competitions,” Simone said. “We are doing great things, but the true assessment will come at the end of the season.”

For now, the assessment is clear: Monaco United is building momentum with authority, balance, and an increasingly unmistakable identity.
