Monaco United Signals Regional Ambitions with Nine-Goal Season Opener

Opening their inaugural league campaign at the Regional level on Sunday, Monaco United delivered an emphatic 9-1 victory over AS Cannes at home, powered by a controlled performance and a dominant second half.

The milestone fixture followed a successful 2025–2026 season that earned the club promotion. Under the direction of coach Marco Simone and assistant coach and fitness coach Alexandre Gallet, the squad successfully integrated summer recruits into the starting lineup alongside an established core. Newcomer Marie Achouri noted the team's immediate organization and shared commitment to a collective project following the summer preparation period, which featured a tailored aerobic component managed through remote monitoring.

After a patient opening phase that included a shot striking the post, Monaco United broke the deadlock shortly before the half-hour mark through Sarah Magnier. Increasing their intensity through the remainder of the first half, the hosts built a 3-0 advantage by intermission.

Following the interval, Monaco United accelerated their momentum. Though AS Cannes responded with a single goal via a superb strike, the Monegasque side maintained control, stringing together attacking sequences to secure the 9-1 final score and their first three points of the season. Reflecting on the result, Alexandre Gallet added: “Very proud of the group! We have been working very well together since returning to training at the beginning of August for this new season. Both the performance and the result of this match confirm this serious and disciplined momentum.”

The club's success extended to its youth ranks over the weekend as the U18 team played the first official match in their history. Traveling to Mougins for the opening round of the Coupe de France, the young squad secured a 2-0 away victory to advance in the competition.
