In a move to further enhance public transportation within the Principality, Monaco is rolling out a refreshed version of its express bus network, starting Monday, 28 July. This update comes as part of a larger vision to better tailor mobility solutions to the habits and preferences of local commuters and visitors alike.
Since their launch in April 2024, Monaco’s express and experimental bus lines have been closely monitored. Now, after months of evaluation, the Department of Urban Amenities has announced a set of strategic changes designed to increase efficiency and improve access to key destinations.
Expanding the Reach: X1 and X2 Get a Boost
Among the most notable updates: the X1 line will now reach the historic Rocher district, while the X2 will be extended all the way to the dynamic Portier neighborhood. These extensions will significantly improve connectivity from the Salines car park, already becoming a central mobility hub. Commuters can also expect more frequent service, with both lines now running every 14 minutes instead of every 20.
The revamped X1 line will stop at Jardin Exotique, Belgique, Place d’Armes, and Rocher. The new X2 route will include Jardin Exotique, Pont Sainte-Dévote, Monte-Carlo Tourisme, and Portier.
Streamlining the System: Farewell to X4
In contrast, the X4 line will be phased out due to low usage. Passengers previously relying on this route are encouraged to switch to the X3, which offers similar coverage, excluding the Saint-Roman stop.
