AS Monaco Basket secured the Coupe de France title on Saturday night after a hard-fought 87–83 victory over Le Mans at the Accor Arena. The win marks the club’s third trophy of the season, confirming its dominance in French basketball.
The final came less than 24 hours after Monaco’s intense EuroLeague play-in success against FC Barcelona, making the performance even more remarkable. Despite physical and mental fatigue, the team managed to deliver under pressure, continuing its strong run since the arrival of coach Sergii Gladyr in March.
Monaco appeared in control early on, leading 45–29 at halftime after a decisive run to close the second quarter. However, Le Mans responded in the second half, gradually closing the gap before taking the lead in the fourth quarter (70–69), setting up a tense finish.
The game turned in the final minutes. Mike James hit a crucial three-pointer with just over a minute remaining to put Monaco back in front. Moments later, Alpha Diallo sealed the win from the free-throw line. Diallo finished as the game’s top scorer with 21 points, followed by Matthew Strazel with 19 points and nine assists, while James added 16.
After the game, Strazel highlighted the unpredictability of the past few days, noting the team’s resilience in high-pressure moments. Diallo and his teammates also emphasized the importance of unity as Monaco continues to push for more success.
Having already lifted the SuperCup and the Leaders Cup earlier this season, Monaco now adds the Coupe de France to its list of achievements. With EuroLeague playoffs and the domestic league still underway, the team remains firmly on track for one of the most successful seasons in its history.
