The golden sands of Larvotto Beach were recently transformed into a classroom for aquatic safety, as the Principality hosted its annual "Water Safety Day." The event serves as a cornerstone of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation’s mission to mitigate the risks of drowning among the region's youth.
Organized by the foundation in partnership with the Monegasque Academy of the Sea, the initiative aims to instill vital life-saving skills in local children. Under the guidance of professional instructors, students participated in a comprehensive series of practical and theoretical workshops. These sessions included training in swimming, aquatic safety protocols, and the fundamental triptych of water survival: identifying risks, alerting authorities, and knowing how to intervene.

The workshops were led by a team of experts, including freediving champion and Foundation Ambassador Pierre Frolla, alongside representatives from the Monegasque Red Cross and the Monegasque Academy of the Sea. Beyond technical instruction, the day encouraged a broader dialogue regarding the values of sport, solidarity, and personal responsibility.
Since its inception, the program has remained a fixture in Monaco’s commitment to youth development and public safety. By transforming the beach into an educational hub, the foundation continues to emphasize that aquatic competence is not merely a recreational skill, but a life-saving necessity.
